Meditation of the Light

A Fusion of Contemporary and Classical Styles

Light is a powerful force that transcends time and space, and in this design, it takes center stage. Inspired by the eternal nature of light and the Zen philosophy, the designers have created a space that is both dynamic and serene.

The distinguishing feature of this design is its focus on socializing. The owner of the residence is known for their hospitality, and as such, the space is designed to accommodate gatherings and interactions. From the billiard area to the audio-visual space, wine cellar, cigar area, and banquet hall, every corner of the residence is thoughtfully designed for social engagement.

To strike a balance between public and private spaces, the designers have carefully arranged the layout to create distinct areas while maintaining an open and connected feel. The use of wood materials adds warmth to the space, while the imitation of old marble brings a sense of history. Mosaic glass elements introduce a modern touch to the traditional elements, and metal materials infuse the space with energy. The color design of the furniture and ornaments further enriches the overall aesthetic.

With a total area of 265 square meters, this residence is a testament to the designers' creativity and attention to detail. The project was completed in 2017 in Taipei City, Taiwan, and the design team, consisting of Wang Shao Ming and Wang Shao Yu, worked diligently to overcome the challenges of combining contemporary and classical styles.

The "Meditation of the Light" design is a harmonious blend of old and new, creating a space that is both nostalgic and modern. By incorporating natural and rustic materials, the designers have successfully brought the beauty of the outdoors inside. The result is a space that not only reflects the owner's personality but also provides a serene and inviting atmosphere for all who enter.
